Always unstring your bow when not in use. Using a stringer is the best and safest way to string and unstring your bow. Sliding the string down the upper limb to keep it there is the best way to store your bow when not in use. That said, it’s critical to have your brace height remain consistent, so that every time you shoot you have the same number of twists in your string. Brace Height is the distance between the lowest point on your grip to the string. Brace Heights vary from bow to bow, so you should look at your manufacturer’s recommendations. Here is a “hack” to help you keep the number of “twists” in the string exactly the same every time you shoot. All you need is a rubber band to hold the string in the notch at the lower limb end of your bow! Wrap it around the notch and string several times and you’re all set! When you release the string and slide it down the upper end of your limb, it will stay there!
